Extended Stay America Suites - Richmond - Hilltop Mall, Richmond

I had a mixed experience at this hotel. The rooms were spacious and homey, which was nice, although we had to wait for the workout room to be cleaned better, it was very dirty. The service was a bit of a rollercoaster. While the staff until check out time was very nice and apologetic, some were sooo mean and not friendly. However, the manager on duty was a standout in being helpful and friendly. The location was excellent for getting around East Bay and SF, near the mall, easy to find, with a nice area for eating and shopping. On the downside, we got downstairs to check out only to find almost no notice for eating and shopping in the area with a large upscale apartment complex and upscale Marriott Hotel. The dining experience was a bit disappointing; the oatmeal muffins and fresh coffee were terrible, and there were no ice machines or trash cans in our room. However, a selection of local cold cuts was put out in the lobby. The facilities were average overall, with no outstanding features noted.

The hotel is in a convenient location near a mall and provides a good size, clean room. The service was nice, but unprofessional in some instances. Dining options were limited, but the hotel offers delicious salads. Overall, a decent stay with a few drawbacks.

My stay at the hotel had its ups and downs. The rooms, although usually available promptly, were not as clean as expected and had a lingering smoke smell despite being a non-smoking facility. On the bright side, the receptionist intervened to clean it up. The service was pleasant overall, except for the inconvenience during check-out if the room was booked through a third-party. The location was convenient for my needs, being close to the mall and the venue I was visiting. Unfortunately, the dining options were limited, and the breakfast service was shut down by the city. Even though the facilities were satisfactory, with laundry services on site, there were limited dining choices available in the lobby.
